Opiate detox may be done on an in- or out-patient basis. The opiate detox program is for any client who needs medical intervention to eliminate opioid/opiates from his or her body. First, you or your loved one will come to our offices for a complete evaluation and assessment by the medical staff. It is difficult to say precisely what treatment will entail because every individual is unique. Below is a general outline of our program, but understand that some parts may be more applicable than others. For example, more or less counseling may be recommended to narrowly tailor the treatment program to the specific needs of each individual):
- Initial IntakeProgram overview with Terry Bruce. Medical assessment by MD and RN, including blood work, drug screens, private counseling sessions, group sessions, and the first week of medication. Our assessment team will determine which detox program is necessary, from 15 days to thirteen weeks or more.
- NO EARLY REFILLS FOR ANY REASON
- Random drug screens may be administered at any given time
- The ultimate goal is to be off Suboxone when comfortable for you and moved to Naltrexone.
*****We require an honest report of all drug and alcohol use so we can create a treatment specific to you. You will then be converted from the drug/drugs you were taking to Suboxone. The first day of the detox is performed completely in the office. A small dosage is then given every 2-4 hours or so to verify that the converted dose is correct.
At the Assisted Recovery Center of Georgia, Inc. in Savannah, our goal is to eventually diminish the amount of Suboxone until the absence of withdrawal symptoms is achieved without discomfort. The client may be given a one-week supply of medication to self-administer. Medication will not be replaced if lost, stolen, or misplaced. Phone contact must be made every week with in-office contact needed at various times. The lessening rate of office contact is client-specific.
Our goal is to eventually diminish the amount of Suboxone until the absence of withdrawal symptoms is achieved without discomfort.
Initially, the client will see the nurse weekly. Once the client has been tapered off Suboxone, they are placed on Naltrexone, which helps control cravings and balance brain chemistry.
VIVITROL has been FDA approved for the prevention of opioid dependence, following opioid detoxification.* Vivitrol is an injectable form of naltrexone and is administered as a once-monthly intramuscular injection. Vivitrol is a nonaddictive, nonscheduled, opioid antagonist that blocks the subjective effects of opioids. With the use of Vivitrol, the chance of not taking naltrexone is eliminated therefore the chance of NOT relapsing is better.
